Model Success.
In order to be as successful, or even come close, you must model what they did. Now, circumstances and the timing won’t be exact, so your results won’t be exact, but as long as you do what they did, you will achieve some form of success.
The same is true for fat loss. Look at what thin people eat and the way they behave and then do the same. Thin people eat less food than fat people. They eat different types of food than fat people. They generally eat higher quality foods than fat people. They tend to exercise more. They generally cope with stress better than fat people.
So, look around for a friend or acquaintance who looks the way you would like to look and ask them how they manage their weight. Then do what they do. Don’t stop to question the process, just model it.

There was a great movie (or remake of a great movie) in the last 10 years called Bedazzled. It was about a computer geek who was in love with a co-worker who wouldn’t give him the time of day. The geek, made a deal with the Devil to change his life for his soul in order to get the girl, and found his life indeed changed – for the worse. Hilarity ensues as the Devil keeps changing the geek’s life to get around the caveat’s that keep the story, well, the story. But the best part of the movie was the theme song, sung by Sister Hazel, called “Change Your Mind.” One of the best lines in the song is the following:
If you wanna be somebody else,
If your tired of fighting battles with yourself,
If you wanna be somebody else,
Change your mind…
Change your mind…
Pretty simple advice from a rock band. (Why do rockers seem to know it all…?)
What’s the lesson?
Change, any change, starts in the head – your head, your mind.
So how’s this apply to fat loss?
Simple.
Change your thoughts.
Be ruthless with negative self-talk. Replace words like “can’t” with “will” and “am.” Write positive affirmations of how you will look and feel once you have lost the weight and fat that you want to lose. Speaking of losing fat – who wants to be a loser anyway? Right? Why not be a winner – a gainer? Why not focus on gaining health, gaining muscle, gaining leanness?
What have you got to lose anyway by switching your thought processes?
Absolutely nothing and you have everything to gain.

“Worms! Roxanne! Worms!…” yells physical stud, but intellectual dud, Chris, to Roxanne, as he’s being coached via earpiece and radio by CD, in a classic case of boy trying to get girl, in the Steve Martin movie, Roxanne. Of course, Chris misunderstood CD and meant to say, “words,” not “worms.”
Words of course mean something. Otherwise they wouldn’t have definitions. It’s just plain ignorant at best and downright stupid at worst to substitute or change the meaning of certain words. It causes confusion, anger, frustration, and decreases productivity. Don’t believe me? Just look at what journalists and politicians argue over.
Well the same holds true to the fat loss process. Please notice that I said “fat loss,” not “weight loss.” Many people don’t know the difference and their lack of progress and increased frustration levels reflect that.
If you are “trying to lose weight” than I almost certainly guarantee you that you will fail. Why? Because of the words you are using.
Let’s start with the word “try.”
Try means to attempt without commitment. Without commitment, effort fails. So you’ve failed already, because you haven’t committed to a process.
Now let’s talk about the word “weight.”
Weight is a measurement of mass. When you step on the scale it is a reflection of earth’s gravity on your body. That’s it. It doesn’t tell you how what that weight is made of. An easy, but ineffective way to lose 20 pounds almost immediately is to cut off your leg. You’ll be lighter but you’ll never walk again. And you still didn’t lose that roll of fat around your midsection.
So, in the fat loss process, we must be very cognizant of the words we use, because they have power over the way we think, and therefore the actions we take, and ultimately, whether or not we reach our goals.
Instead of “trying to lose weight,” “commit to releasing x pounds of stored body fat” and then follow up those very specific words with the appropriate goal-achieving actions.
Implement these three changes today and then stand back in amazement and see how “lucky” you were that you achieved your goals…

I was thinking of dancing as a weight loss option. Like dancing to a whole CD (about an hour) each day at my lunch period, and record my results every week (waist, legs, arms, etc.) What do you think of my plan, and would you use it to help you? Please give a full answer.
I have used it, just answered another question recommending dancing, any movement will burn more calories and should result in a weight loss. Without changing your eating habits it may take 4 to 6 weeks to see any changes in your measurements but only a couple of weeks to feel your mood, and stamina improve. Hint, if you don’t have an hour at a time, 2 half hours will work to. “Groove it,and lose it”
