How to get rid of lice?
I found lice on one (and then all) of my children about a month ago. I went out, bought nix and a metal lice comb and applied it. I washed all the bedding, stuff animals, vacuumed, and cleaned all hair stuff. Everyone else in the family is “cured,” but my daughter and I still have it. Our hair is really thick and very hard to use the nit comb through but we have sat there and combed it every other day for about 2 weeks. I’ve used shampoos, combing (as mentioned), olive oil (very messy), and that gel that is “supposed” to dissolve the nits.
Does anyone have any advice at all?
It is driving us all mad. I am seriously thinking of shaving my head.
I had lice. We tried shampoos-didn’t work. Here is what you do.
Soak their heads with vinegar (this will smell bad)!
Put a shower cap on them (to suffocate the lice)
Leave the shower cap on for about an hour.
After an hour start combing out the lice and eggs (OR MORE EGSS WILL HATCH)
Shampoo and Condition the hair with normal shampoo
Use olive oil to comb out extra eggs in the hair (There WILL be more eggs after you do the vinigar thing)
EDIT:
The olive oil is messy, but it is the only way to get the extra eggs out. Also, make sure to wash EVERYTHING.
Don’t borrow clothes, Hats, or anything else because it may be infected. Do not borrow hair supplies.
Shampoo and Condition their hair so it is clean
There WILL be more eggs in the hair so put olive oil in the hair and comb. (The olive oil helps get the eggs out)
