olive oil making process

is it possible to make olive oil at home?

i have a large olive tree which produces 100’s of olives each year. i have always wanted to make my own olive oil but have been led to believe it is a difficult process. if anyone has any tips it would be much appriciated.

Not impossible, but very difficult. You’ll need something like a cider press for domestic use. The first pressing will give you a very green oil, that’s your extra virging oil. The messy left over after pressing burns well on a wood stove, so nothing is wasted.
